We utilize a phased approach in all our workbooks, incorporating key psychological principles in recall, knowledge, application, and testing phases. Our Apollo booklets clearly outline the essential knowledge students need to master for exam questions. These booklets include exam-style questions for knowledge application and real exam questions from previous years to test understanding. This method replaces low-level revision techniques with active engagement, ensuring effective preparation and knowledge retention.

Our resources are designed to help students organize their knowledge effectively, using tools like ‘Knowledge Organisers.’ We also provide past papers and mark schemes, which are integral to our revision strategy. This allows tutors to offer tailored feedback, identifying students' strengths and areas for improvement for focused 1-2-1 sessions.

GCSE Maths  

We offer tuition for both Foundation and Higher GCSES. It is necessary for all our students to have a deep understanding of the content, structure, and the importance of approaching the exam questions with confidence, which our 1-2-1 tutoring sessions teach in detail.

Through using past exam questions and the mark schemes, students can truly master exam technique and fully develop the practical skills required when completing a GCSE Maths exam. Our tutors cover all content for student’s exam specifications and tailor each session to ensure that students can improve in their weaker areas.

GCSE English  

At Explore Apollo Tuition, we provide comprehensive support for your child's English Language and English Literature studies. While some students may focus on just one of these areas, we are equipped to tailor a plan that addresses the unique and complex needs of each student.

English Language: Our GCSE English Language program equips students with the skills necessary to excel in writing formal letters, speeches, creative pieces, and text analysis. Our team of specialists teaches students effective strategies for approaching English Language exams, emphasizing what exam markers look for in their writing. Utilizing past exam papers and mark schemes as primary revision resources, our sessions help students understand the critical components required for success in their exams.

Our top priority is to ensure that your child receives the support and guidance they need during their exam preparation. In addition to exam techniques, our lessons also focus on essential skills such as spelling, punctuation, and grammar, which are crucial for the English Language GCSE.

English Literature: Our tutoring sessions cover the full spectrum of the English Literature specification, including poetry, 19th-century novels, and other key components of the exam. Our tutors emphasize the development of critical skills such as structuring essays and interpreting complex texts to help students reach their full potential. We provide constant constructive feedback, enabling students to understand the requirements for the GCSE English Literature exam and achieve their best results.

GCSE Science 

Science exam questions can be very tricky, but the content is extremely interesting. At Explore Apollo we teach both combined and triple science, in higher and foundation. Our tutors recognise the importance of understanding the questions and being able to write answers using specific terminology. Your child can choose to have tuition within Biology, chemistry and physics or select a specific science. Each lesson is made tailored to your child, with past exam questions and the knowledge they require. They will learn how to apply their knowledge to each exam question, giving a scientific answer.

We ensure that students are reminded of the interesting, engaging content within GCSE Science exams. We provide tuition for Combined and Triple Science, for Foundation and Higher specifications. Our tutors are Science specialists who recognise the importance of using scientific terminology and fully understand how to teach your child to incorporate it into their own exam answers!

Your child can choose to have tuition with all 3 Sciences; Biology, Chemistry and Physics or select a specific science. Each lesson is made tailored to your child and their areas of weakness and need for improvement, using our principal resources of past exam papers and mark schemes to identify the exam structure and breakdown their content.

Group learning
 

Weekly Online Group Sessions

At Explore Apollo Tuition, we offer engaging and interactive weekly online group classes for GCSE students. Our classes are conducted via Microsoft Teams and utilize a variety of interactive teaching aids, including our Apollo booklets, whiteboards, screen sharing, and online team games to enhance the learning experience.

  • Small Class Sizes: Each weekly group class is limited to a maximum of ten students, ensuring individual attention for each participant.
  • PDF Downloadable Resource Booklets: Students receive PDF downloadable resource booklets with each session.
  • Termly Sessions: Group sessions are offered during the school term only, providing a structured and consistent learning schedule.
  • Qualified Tutors: All our tutors are fully qualified, DBS checked, and come with outstanding references from previous schools and employers.
In Sepetmber 2024 we will be running three Online group session- 

AQA GCSE English Langage session - Tuesday at 6pm 
GCSE Higher Maths - Wednesday at 6pm 
GCSE Foundation Maths - Thursday at 6pm

Finn had been helping my 11 year old with his English ready for his SATS. While he’s a bit of a Maths and Science whizz he has always lack enjoyment and confidence in English so was struggling somewhat.

My son has enjoyed working with Finn, he finds him fun and interesting and at the same time is clearly taking on board what he has been teaching him. He will now off his own back pick a word of the day to try and expand his vocabulary. In a recent parents evening I was told that his new found confidence in English is clear and that he is now getting more involved in class lessons rather than shying away and bumbling through. His quality of written work and correct use of punctuation has also come along a lot of the past few months. His teacher commented that the tutoring has certainly given him a boost and she expects him to go in and do well in his exams now.
